Our Facilities

  • Electric Kilns (2 Computerized Skutt 1227s, one manual Skutt 1027 with an optional extra ring, one Skutt 1018, 2 smaller test kilns). Max firing temperatures from cone 8 to cone 10 (1027 only)
  • Gas Kiln (approx 34 cu ft)
  • Soda Kiln (approx 34 cu ft)
  • Anagama wood kiln (approx 720 cu ft, offsite)
  • Gas fired Raku Kiln
  • Soldner clay mixer

  • Communal studio space-- start at $95 / month

  • Ceramics and glaze lab available to members and students (material fees apply)

Tours/Events at Clay Studio of Missoula!

Scheduling:
Tours must be scheduled at least 1 week ahead of time. Classes, workshops, and parties must be scheduled at least 3 weeks ahead of time. Available times vary and are contingent upon staffing and time availability.

Tours
All tours are free! Tours last approximately ½ hour and can be tailored to fit any age group or area of interest.

Potential Themes:
1. All About The Clay Studio- History, Facilities, Opportunities
2. Gallery and Ceramic Art- gallery tour, facilities, resident studios
3. Clay 101- making wet to fired work

Add a wheel demo- $15 (A wheel demonstration adds up to ½ hour to the tour and must be arranged ahead of time.)

You can schedule a kids clay project in conjunction with your tour- call for details and rates (543-0509)

Parties
Kids Birthday Parties - Adult/Organization Parties

Clay Studio parties last 2 hours and focus on a hand-building project. Parties include instruction and materials. Finished projects are fired and available for pickup approximately 2-3 weeks after the event

Rates:
$100 total for up to 10 people
$10 per additional participant
