Students will explore more advanced wheel thrown and/or hand built forms that will be fired in the brand new soda kiln! Students have the option to create their own projects as well. There will also be an emphasis on surface decoration techniques utilizing slips and underglazes. Techniques will include slip transfers with newsprint for imagery and the Mishima process to inlay line-work into the clay. Students will be expected to spend some time with the soda kiln during the cone 10 firing-schedule will be discussed in class. In addition, students may have the opportunity to do a low fire soda firing depending on interest at the end of the session.
