Join us for an immersive journey into the ancient art of Raku firing! Over the course of five weeks, you'll delve deep into the techniques, history, and creative possibilities of this unique and exhilarating firing process. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced potter looking to expand your skills, this class offers something for everyone.


  • Demonstration of basic hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques to create Raku-ready pieces.
  • Gain hands-on experience with kiln loading techniques optimized for Raku firing.
  • Learn about the unique firing process, including preheating, reduction, and post-firing techniques.
  • Discuss strategies for achieving desired results and troubleshooting common issues.


Included in class fee:

  • First bag of clay
  • All firing fees for work created in ALL classes are included in the class fee  (size limit- items must not measure more than 20” in any direction)
  • access to work in studio outside of class meeting time

Access outside of class time will be restricted to business hours when other classes and programs are not in session in the classroom, and additional monitored  times. Your instructor will orient you on how to reserve open studio access on the first day of class.


We ask that students comply with all of our health and safety guidelines. A student waiver will be issued during the first class meeting with the most up-to-date guidance.
