Interested in livening up the surfaces of your handbuilt or thrown ceramic work? Yve will introduce a myriad of simple and effective surface decoration techniques that will explore approaches to design and imagery in clay. This includes sgraffito, inlay techniques, water etching using wax resist and shellac, paper stencils and transfers – just to name a few! Students will come away from this ten-week course with several new techniques - achievable with basic supplies, colored slips and underglazes - that can be used on low, mid and high fire clay bodies. We suggest you have basic experience with clay so you can focus on how to apply these exciting new techniques to ceramic forms that you are interested in making.
Included in class fee:
- First bag of clay
- Basic image/design supplies
- All firing fees for work created in ALL classes are included in the class fee (size limit- items must not measure more than 20” in any direction)
