This class is designed for intermediate and advanced students interested in creating works to be fired in the soda kiln, utilizing mid range temperatures (cone 6). In-class demonstrations will include image and surface techniques to apply to handbuilt and wheel thrown forms during this intensive five-week course. One class soda firing will take place on or after the last class to allow ample time for students to create works over the full session.
Each class enrollment minimum; 4, maximum 8
Included in class fee:
- First bag of clay
- Firing fees for work created in class (size limit- items must not measure more than 20” in any direction)
- access to work in studio outside of class meeting time. Access outside of class time will be restricted to business hours when other classes and programs are not in session in the classroom, plus additional monitored times TBA. Your instructor will orient you on how to reserve open studio access on the first day of class.
We ask that students comply with all of our health and safety guidelines. A student waiver will be issued during the first class meeting with the most up-to-date guidance.
