CLASS CANCELATION POLICIES

Please familiarize yourself with our policies before registering in case you find that you need to make a request to cancel your enrollment.

There is no refund or credit given if a cancelation is made less than one week prior to the first class meeting.

Cancelation requests must be made in writing (email to info@theclaystudioofmissoula.org) or can be made by phone if you speak directly with a staff member. We will respond to your request by the end of next business day or sooner (feel free to reach out if you do not hear from us in the case something got lost in cyberspace!).

If a student chooses to cancel up to one week prior to the first-class meeting, a non-refundable deposit will be withheld. Deposits withheld for cancellations made any reason one week prior to the first-class meeting:

  • For a 10-week class: $50 deposit fee withheld

  • For a 5-week class or kids class/camp: $25 deposit fee withheld

  • One day adult/youth/family workshops: $10 deposit fee withheld.

In the event that the Clay Studio is forced to cancel a full class or workshop due to under-enrollment or any other unforeseen circumstance, a full refund will be issued.

Special Cancelation Policy for VISITING ARTIST/GUEST WORKSHOPS

Occasionally we offer special workshops with guest artists who have traveled to Missoula or are offering an intensive week long course. Because of the logistics involved with this type of programming, the cancelation policy differs.

For these special workshops, the refund policy can be found on the Visiting Artist Workshop Page or in the Workshop Class Description.

If the Clay Studio is forced to cancel a workshop due to under-enrollment or unforeseen reasons, registrants will receive a full refund for their tuition paid to The Clay Studio of Missoula

If we offer a program that does not fit in to any of the categories above, the refund policy will be stated in the specific program description.

Can I switch to another class?

Multi-Week Classes

A one-time switch may be made to another multi-week class that is published and offered during the concurrent class session. The request to change classes must be made at least one week prior to the original class start date, and there must be room in the class you are switching to in order to accommodate your request. No fee is charged for this type of change, but the student is liable for any additional tuition fees if transferring to a class that costs more. Conversely, if the new class costs less, you will be credited the difference. As of 2/15/24 are unable to offer credits for future class sessions. Any credits on file from past class sessions are still valid.

One-Day Workshops

A one-time switch may be made to another class that is currently being offered. A request to change must be made at least one week prior to the class start date, and there must be room in the class.  No fee is charged for this switch, but the student is liable for any additional tuition fees if transferring to a class that costs more. Conversely, if the new class costs less, you will be credited the difference.

Can someone else take my place if I cannot attend a class or workshop?
The short answer is…yes! You may find the cancelation deadline has passed, but have an acquaintance who is eager to take over your spot. Just let us know the name and contact information of the new registered student, so we can make that update on our roster. Notification of student changes can be made in writing (via email), in person, or by phone.

  • Make certain that the class is appropriate for the replacement student. Please don’t send your mom who has never touched clay to one of our advanced classes, or two children to an adult pottery date night, etc.

  • for 10-week classes, the switch must be made prior to the second class meeting

  • for workshops, the switch can be made any time

  • One time switch, please. Once a student switch is made, it cannot be changed again.

  • We ask that the switch be made with a trusted acquaintance.

We understand that unexpected situations arise and try to be accommodating when we can. If we have a particularly long wait list for a class and can easily fill your spot, we can sometimes make exceptions to the one-week notification deadline and simply withhold the deposit fee. Please understand there is no guarantee that this can be achieved, as individuals on the waitlist may not be able to take your vacated spot with such late notification.

The Clay Studio of Missoula does not offer makeup classes or partial refunds to students who cannot attend one or more of their class dates. Our instructors will do the best they can to review what you may have missed, but please understand their ability to recreate their full lesson that you missed will be limited. We encourage students in our multi-week classes to utilize open studio time if they can in order to practice outside of class time!
