Private Events and Parties

Host your own private get-together over a clay project at the Clay Studio of Missoula! Clay projects are a unique way to have fun and can be great for everything from a child's birthday party to an office retreat! If you're handbuilding, you can request a themed project, or leave it to your teaching artist to bring one of their favorites to the table. Have a good, creative time getting muddy with us!

Wheel throwing events involve use of the electric potter's wheel, a unique power tool that helps us harness a turning wheel to create perfectly round vessels. The technique is tricky, but the basics can be a hoot to learn with a group of friends, and is certainly a unique experience. You'll even get a memento for the experience, as we will fire and apply clear glaze to up to 3 successful pots per person, to be picked up by the organizer of the event roughly one month after the date of the event.

Handbuilding events are like the joy of art class without the pressure of a grade! A teaching artist will help you make your vision. Pick a general project as a starting point so you can learn building methods and create something ready for the kiln. But take your own creative freedoms and turn it into something uniquely yours once you've been shown the basics! You can elect to use Stroke & Coat Wonderglaze to add color and pizazz to your project, or if you're loving the sculpting process, you can also elect to have your final piece dipped in clear, or left unglazed so that you may apply paint to it at home. Finished projects are to be picked up by the organizer roughly one month after the event takes place.

Special circumstances like needing a unique schedule to accommodate a rotating school group can be discussed with Education Coordinator Kelly Seitz. Questions can be emailed to fire@theclaystudioofmissoula.org
