April 2020 Newsletter

Dear Clay Enthusiasts,

We are still committed to being a resource for ceramic arts and our community! The Clay Studio of Missoula is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, education and provision of resources in the ceramic arts. The Clay Studio of Missoula facility is closed through at least April 24. We are still working behind the scenes from our "home offices" to continue to engage with our greater community. We will be providing updates to everyone on our mailing list once we can resume minimal operations and be open for limited access and supply orders and pickup!

NEW Online Sales Gallery

CURRENT HIGHLIGHT: Work by resident artist Andrew Rivera

We are pleased to now offer an array of items by our represented artists for online purchase. To kick off this new feature, we will be showcasing work by our current artists-in-residence. Highlighted this week is a selection of work by Andrew Rivera. Andrew has a BFA from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He aims to capture values from his Mexican heritage in his wares, including everyday rituals, connections, and relationships. He sees the interactions between user and vessel as an opportunity to reflect on interpersonal connections. From 2017-18, Andrew participated in the Minnesota New Institute for Ceramic Education (MN NICE) program at Northern Clay Center, where he also was a Sales Gallery, Education, and Exhibition Associate. Visit our website to view work by Andrew Rivera HERE

Potsketch Auction Updates

For obvious reasons, our Potsketch Auction Gala event IS NOT happening on Saturday April 11 at the UC Ballroom. Prior to postponing the event, so much work was already put into place for this important fundraiser by both the Clay Studio of Missoula and all the talented contributing artists. We are extremely disappointed to not be able to celebrate art and community with everyone in person this weekend. After careful thought and deliberation regarding our options, we have decided to convert this year's Potsketch Auction to an online auction platform and virtual event. We will be able to announce our new Online Spring Potsketch Auction Date(s) very soon. We have roughly one hundred amazing works of art that have been contributed to this event and look forward to sharing them with everyone! If you would like to be a business sponsor for our Potsketch 2020 Auction we are looking for support to help defray the costs of the event, and we will be working with an online platform that will promote our supporting sponsors. Sponsorships start at $100. Please email us for a sponsorship packet and ad spec information and deadlines.

Online Educational Resources

A couple of days ago, we sent an email about our new Clay Resources and Youth & Family Clay Resources web pages.

We are working on adding new content to these pages and look forward to continuing to develop and provide these resources, even after our onsite programming resumes!
